Undergrad Help ...

Hi all, long-time lurker, first time poster... I go to a non-target university, and I have some questions.

First, being a non-target, I have heard from many around here that it is almost impossible to get a IB job from my school (But, of course, nothing is impossible). So, do I major in Finance, hoping for IB? But, I am worried that if I do that I'll get a job that I don't want. Breaking into f500 is also hard from my school...

But, I have a second option (far less glamorous...).I play it safe and I major in accounting, get my MPA/BBA, five year degree, and work for the big 4?

The only reason I wouldn't go ahead and get my degree in Finance is because my school doesn't place well into any kind of 'good' finance jobs i.e commercial banker, real estate agent, and insurance agents are the type of jobs that my schools finance grads receive...

So, if you were me, what would you do? Pray for IB to workout, and perhaps get a crappy job? Or, go the B4 route and try to jump ship after a few years and be a controller/CFO at a different firm?

Any advice would be great!

Lol I wish. I've gotten pretty much a full ride here ... I owe $5000 a year here, and, for other schools in my area that are considered targets, I don't have the required courses done. Most want certain courses by a certain time. Its unfortunate because I have 15 hours completed with a 4.0, and expect to keep that gpa after this semester.

If you consider breaking into IB, why do you question your ability to get a job equivalent in pay/prestige (or whatever your criteria are) to big 4 with a degree in finance?

Prayer is a bad strategy by the way.
