Unique Background as Leverage into IB?
Senior with a year in experience as a part-time research associate for a leading independent derivative index creating firm, went to non-target "sports school" in order to be coached under an Olympic coach in my sport(until junior year, forced retirement due to injury), many leadership roles within a number of large campus organizations, and also a year's experience working in sales & market research as a leasing agent.
Having a 3.4 GPA in my econ major at a non-target school obviously places the odds against me, though I think I have a shot of utilizing my experiences as leverage into a small investment bank. Perhaps one that has a derivatives division.
Anyone with advise or insights would be highly beneficial in my attempt to break into IB or any finance role that structures deals. In September I received a full-time summer internship offer at the same derivative index firm. The founder offered it informally and never actually confirmed with his board that they would make one available; long story short I am out of an internship for this summer. Thanks for any input ahead of time.
