Upcoming Superday - JPM Diversified Industries

Hey All,

I have a Superday coming up next week and wanted to see fi anyone had any advice/insights? I've been prepping and running through my standard behaviorals and technicals but wanted to check if anyone has sat for one of their Superdays before?

I've reviewed and completed a couple DCF's and LBO's to keep everything fresh and ran through some previous AVP/, acc/dil and value creation analyses I had done to sure-up any M&A curve-balls.

Anyone have advice going in?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s what you need to know for your upcoming JPM Superday for Diversified Industries:

Behavioral Preparation

  1. Key Questions to Prepare For:

    • Why JPMorgan? Why Investment Banking? Why this group?
    • Stories about teamwork, leadership, and handling difficult individuals.
    • Examples of prioritizing tasks and solving problems under pressure.
    • Situational questions like collaborating with diverse perspectives or making tough decisions.
  2. Tips:

    • Have concise, well-rehearsed stories that highlight your skills and experiences.
    • Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.
    • Be ready to address potential objections (e.g., non-target background, GPA, etc.).

Technical Preparation

  1. Core Topics to Review:

    • DCF, LBO, accretion/dilution, and value creation analyses (as you’ve already been practicing).
    • Global macroeconomic views and their implications on industries.
    • JPM-specific deals or trends in the diversified industries space.
    • Active vs. passive management and allocation strategies.
  2. Common Technical Questions:

    • How would you invest $10MM? Be prepared to justify your allocation.
    • Discuss a recent M&A deal or pitch an M&A idea.
    • Be ready to explain valuation methodologies and any transactions on your resume.

Superday Format

  • Expect 3-5 interviews, typically a mix of behavioral and technical questions.
  • Interviews may include conceptual/situational questions based on your resume.
  • Some rounds might focus on strategic thinking rather than pure technicals.

General Tips

  • Networking: Remember interviewers’ names and send thank-you notes afterward.
  • Mindset: Stay calm, confident, and professional. Enjoy the process—it’s as much about fit as it is about skills.
  • Logistics: Get a good night’s sleep before the interview and dress professionally.

Good luck! You’ve got this.

Interesting. Was the case a paper LBO?

Mine is a 90 minute Superday so they may have changed the format a bit. Expecting standard DCF, drill down, WACC build, EV bridge, TSM, valuations metrics, GW calcs etc.. Anything you I missed that should be top of mind?

What team/office is it for? Mine was SF Tech so could be different from team to team.

Case was a paper acc / del but had to do an S&U and note stuff like asset write down, and explain how the balance sheet would balance. Then turned into some sector specific conceptual stuff about the target and buyer about how changing certaina assumptions impact the deal.

Got it, this is for Chicago DI. Haven't dug into acc/dil, or an AVP in a bit so may need to refresh.
