Urgent: Coffee Chat with 2 bankers

Hi guys, I have a coffee chat upcoming with 2 bankers. One of them is an associate and the other is an analyst, the associate connected me with an analyst in his group and we are all having a coffee together. I wanted to request your guys' advice on how I should play this out. The associate is a really cool guy but have not yet spoken to the analyst yet.

My goal is to get into the recruiting process with their firm (I go to a non target that this bank does not do OCR in), what sort of questions should I start out on before making the ask?

Introduce yourself (tell your story -- indicate interest in group)-> Ask about their backgrounds (college, career choices, etc.) just have a regular convo -> Ask group specific/industry specific questions (work culture, market event, recent acquisition) -> Full-circle indicate that you are interested in joining their group: "What can I do to make myself as competitive as possible for this position?" "Is there anyone in your group or in the firm that you could refer me to?" "Could you possibly send my resume to HR? I'm really interested in this position."

Have a normal chat, and be very respectful of their time. Top priority is thanking them for coming out and being appreciative.

Mid-way through your chat, state your reason for talking and discuss how you might be able to get involved in the recruiting process.

Associate is most likely bringing his analyst to get a second opinion on you, and see if you'd be a good fit for the job. Have good questions prepared for the analyst so you can engage him in conversation and win him over (day to day, what clients he's working with, what he works on, internal structure, current trends in the industry they work in). Don't be afraid to say something intelligent either.

Best of luck!
