URM/White/ORM Question

Im wondering about my ORM/white status. I know asians have it the worst, indians have it pretty bad too, and Im guessing theres no bias for or against whites in IB recruiting. But what do Middle Eastern kids constitute as? Im an Iranian-American at a top 5 USNWR, and see so many asians and quite a few indians gunning for Wall Street. When Analysts and Associates look at the piles of resumes, do they bunch Middle Eastern kids with the asians/indians, or more so with the white crowd? Obviously when choosing a student, the whole package matters, but assuming all things constant like high gpa (3.7+), Extracurriculars, internships, fit, etc., how would a recruiter look at me as compared to asians and indians? Whites? I've always been curious about this, because on standardized tests and on the common app we're grouped with whites, but sometimes as a culture we can be overachieving like the rest of asia.

If you're an overachiever, that works to your advantage then, yes?

I would think so (not to sound like a tool), but that's only if the general consensus in the professional world is the same as it is on the common app etc. That's basically why I'm asking, because I myself have always lumped Middle Eastern people with Asians and Indians; I'm wondering what other people think.

When we used to do resume reviews, ethnicity (based on name, language skills or student organization affiliations) didn't play a role at all. Resumes were grouped by yes, maybe and no based on GPA and internship experience with some small consideration given to ECs. That's it. If you are an URM, there are special programs for that, but they fell outside of normal on-campus recruiting, at least in my personal experience from leading a semi-target school recruiting team.

I think the reason that you see an over representation of certain minority groups is because of the GPA part of the equation. Certain ethnic groups (usually due to family pressure) place a higher importance on GPAs than others.

Thanks a lot for the response so far, and yeah I know for sure Im not a URM at all Im not looking out to be. I was just thinking after seeing this thread revived:

that ethnicity might negatively come into consideration when it comes to ORMs, which is why I wonder which group i belong in (ORM vs. regular white).
