valuations at PwC vs. Financial due diligence at EY

Hello guys,

I have been selected at PwC and EY for valuations and Financial due diligence profiles respectively. Need your insights on which will have better growth, learning and chances of breaking into front end M&A profiles. I am a Chartered Accountant ( equivalent of a CPA) and have completed 2 levels of the CFA exam. I reside in India. I would like to be in the financial markets industry going forward And break into more front end roles. I do not plan to do an MBA in the near future and I am 25 yrs old. Please advice so that I can take an informed decision.

Regards, Shivan

Hi! You'll get relevant experience for M&A in both valuations and FDD. In valuations you'll have better expertise in financial modelling, DCF projections, etc. But from my experience, half of your time may be spent on audit projects (PPE, IA valuations, GW impairment analysis, etc.). And in FDD you are 100% involved in transactions services. But your role is mostly to analyse historical performance and identify its influence on value drivers. In my country there's practice of short-term secondments from FDD to M&A projects. Maybe, it's a plus for you.

Hi Shivan, I am about to start at valuations too. What finally drove you to accept the valuation position? I know this because of your LinkedIn profile.
