Vault is sponsored by Houlihan Lokey?
One of the reasons I am so interested in HLHZ is the fact that it's rated so highly on all of vault's "Best to work for" and overall rankings, but some talk on WSO said Houlihan Lokey's only rated so high because they pay WSO. Is that true? How do you know?
Take it from someone who knows - HL spams the sh*t out of the Vault surveys.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Vault rankings. They're good to get a very rough idea of what the industry is like, but beyond that, WSO is the place to be.
Their corp fin (i.e. M&A) div is not known to have any outstanding or notable work environment. It's a middle market shop that sometimes does BB and sometimes does micro-cap transactions. They work a lot - most of my friends there say it's a sweatshop for junior analysts. They have a nice deal flow, though, and have a knack for fairness opinions (i.e. low-paying last-minute engagements where you advise the board on whether the offer made / received is fair).
I'm not sure why they're ranked so highly in Vault. They're not different from anyone else in terms of hours or working environment.
Thanks for the heads up... I was really attracted to the fact that they're headquartered in LA, but I guess a BB job in LA trumps HLHZ LA?

LOL well I would argue that all NYC BB IB divisions are sweatshops, so it's all good - at least I'll be in LA.
Lol the Vault guide also had TD Securities and Deloitte (banking?) above Morgan Stanley, Deustche Bank, and Citi.
Loll I guess their prestige rankings are more accurate than prestige. If TD Securities and Deloitte offered MS/DB/Citi salaries with 50 hour weeks, then I'd rank them higher too.
