Video Interview Advice for BMO Freshman Internship

I recently got accepted for an interview for BMO's Capital Markets Freshman Summer 2024 Internship. I'm currently a freshman in college and haven't started prepping for video interviews or anything so I'm not quite sure what to expect and how to prepare for this interview. I was wondering if there were any good resources such as books, websites, or videos to explore to help me prepare. Or if someone would like to give me a general gist of what they would probably ask me that would be great too. Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, video interviews for internships in capital markets or investment banking often follow a similar structure. Here's what you can expect:

  1. The Video Interview Structure:

    • You'll likely be asked 3-4 questions.
    • You'll have 60 seconds to prepare your response.
    • You'll have 60-90 seconds to deliver your response.
    • You may have a couple of retakes to submit your video after reviewing your response.
    • The whole process should take somewhere between 20-30 minutes depending on the amount of time you use in the above steps.
  2. The Questions:

    • While there is no list of known questions that you can plan for, there are some topics that frequently come up.
    • Behavioral questions tend to focus on your actions in the past. They might ask about a time you faced a challenge or how you handle teamwork and conflict.

As for preparation, here are some tips: - Practice videotaping yourself talking to the camera. - Dress in business professional attire. - Make sure to sit with good posture and practice smiling. - Stare at the camera, not the screen. - Record your interview on a computer, not a phone.

For resources, the WSO Finance networking guide could be a great place to start. It's packed with detailed strategies to help you get the most of your networking, including cold emailing templates, questions to ask in interviews, and more.

Remember, the goal of the video interview is to get to know you better, so be yourself and let your personality shine through. Good luck!
