Wells Fargo CLT

Hey everyone,

I’m going to be joining Wells Fargo in Charlotte as a Summer Analyst, I understand that Charlotte doesn't have groups like Regal, TMT, or Sponsors, but I want to learn more about the groups that do have a presence in clt office. I am interested in Healthcare and lev fin.

Could anyone provide more insights into these groups or share experiences working in Charlotte?

Was told they are trying to shift tmt to NYC and SF- stopped hiring for that group in clt

yep this is exactly what happened. TMT SA's last summer were told to pick SF or NYC b/c CLT TMT is shut down.

Don’t do HC at WF. They are so far down the league tables it’s not even funny. LevFin or M&A are your best options in CLT. FIG too. Industrials and TMT will forget you exist down there, need to be in NYC for those groups.

For context agree, HC currently is poor. However, have heard rumblings it's one of the target growth areas for the bank (also at WF, ignore title). Up to you whether you believe the growth story.

LevFin/M&A/FIG are great, although you will be worked harder than other groups.

Thanks for the responses. If I'm genuinely interested in covering healthcare long-term, but it's not considered a strong group at WF right now, would you recommend still pursuing it? Does group reputation outweigh personal interest early on, or is it better to follow the industry I want to work in down the line?

Industrials isn't too good in the CLT office? Also, do certain groups increase chances of RO after the internship?

Levfin is quite strong.

interned with the bank in 2024 and heard a story about an analyst being with the HC group a full year and not seeing a single live deal closed. Wouldn't want to be in that environment myself (endless pitching and very difficult to have anything to talk about if you decide to exit).

Your call though if you think you want to stay in the group long, long term.
