Wells Fargo Hirevue

Was not paying attention at all and accidentally applied to Wells Fargo Houston, which is the only location that has opened applications. I was invited to do a Hirevue and I figure what the hell, but I want to clarify something first.

Will my answers to this Hirevue be used when I apply to the SF office? If so I would likely just not do it because I have zero interest in the Houston office and have a pretty strong connection into Wells Fargo SF so would want to devote more time to prep, which I can't right now.

And if I let this expire is it going to bar me from the SF office or something like that? Obviously then I would do it.

Would really appreciate any insight on this. Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  1. HireVue Answers and Office Applications: Wells Fargo's process can vary, but typically, HireVue responses are tied to the specific application you submitted. If you applied to the Houston office, your HireVue answers would likely be reviewed in the context of that application. However, if you later apply to the SF office, there’s a chance they could reference your previous HireVue responses, especially if they are stored in their system. This is not guaranteed, but it’s something to consider.

  2. Letting the HireVue Expire: Letting the HireVue expire for the Houston application should not automatically bar you from applying to the SF office. However, it’s always a good idea to confirm this directly with Wells Fargo’s recruiting team to avoid any misunderstandings. If you have a strong connection in the SF office, you might leverage that to clarify your situation and ensure it doesn’t impact your future application.

  3. Recommendation: If you’re not interested in the Houston office and feel unprepared, it might be better to let the HireVue expire and focus on preparing for the SF application. However, if you’re concerned about potential repercussions, completing the HireVue with a basic level of preparation could be a safer option.

Ultimately, your strong connection in the SF office could be a significant advantage, so consider reaching out to them for guidance or to flag your interest in that location specifically. Good luck!

Just so you know I think networking matters more anyway/idk how many people even look at it. Last year, I couldn’t find where the timer was and absolutely butchered my hirevue because it cut mid sentence.i ended getting an offer there. So try your best but I think unless you really really want it, I wouldn’t worry too much

Funny story in retrospect lmao, I'm sure you were scared at the time though.

Definitely good to hear it might not be a point of emphasis, congrats on the offer!

Hireview is tied to location/specific application. Your resume reviewer who is randomly assigned a stack of resumes (including yours) has the option to review your hireview when going through the resume bundle.
