I'm from Ann Arbor itself, so I might be biased:

BIG gap between Umichigan and Michigan state. I know people who've applied for jobs and gotten asked an interview question along the lines of "why shouldn't I ding you because of your school". I'd honestly say that on this board, people hype up the difference between a school like Harvard/Wharton and Michigan. In my opinion, the gap between HW and Michigan is 1/5 the size between Michigan and MSU. MSU(in academic, not football terms) is stuck very much in the shadow of Umich.

Howard-don't know about it, ask someone else

Babson-don't know, ask someone else

Washington University- is this WashU in St. Louis or Washington University?

To my understanding, both fall in the category of non/semi-target.

If you can get into Wash U (quite difficult)... and can get good grades... then you can transfer to a very reputable target school.

Wash U - St Louis gets a ton of respect as being a very under-rated elite institution. It's Med School is 2nd in the country btw, and its law school albeit not ranked top 20 requires like a 166 LSAT (similar to alot of t14 schools)...

Food for thought.

I go to Wash-U and lots of people hear make it into banking, but more go the consulting route. Also, those who make BB firms rely heavily on alumni influence who are very eager to get their own in. The professors are top-notch, but the location in St Louis and the size of the business program hurts as schools often determine target recruiting based upon numbers of students they can get in front of.

nevrsumr50Babson is known for entrepreneurship, and it is the top school in the nation for it. If you are gonna go there, go for for that.

i thought it was bentley

Babson actually has quite good placement not only within IB, but also in private equity, venture capital, and usually 1-2 hedge funds. something like 30-40% of students are absorbed into finance/investment-related jobs, mostly IB. While it is obviously the best for starting businesses, it also has a habit of pumping out top analysts. A lot of people on these boards immediately discount boutique schools, or really any schools that aren't ivy league, but in my experience, many of the best analysts come from non-targets, including Babson, and people who make hiring decisions usually recognize this.
