What exactly is Credit?

To clarify I am referring to credit in relation to an IB credit desk in markets i.e a credit sales or credit trading analyst.

I'm slightly confused as to exactly what products are included in credit which seems a very broad part of fixed income to me. It is unlike, say, commodities or FX which are fairly self explanatory.

I would be very grateful if people could clear this up for me.
