Guy from Vanderbilt with a PJT (private capital) offer was supposedly going to the HR of firms other people had offers from with texts/messages etc, trying to convince them to rescind - supposedly lots of the message were actually fabricated. Indian/east asian male, from a notoriously backstabby NJ high school, apparently - deleted Linkedin.

Genuinely nuts, no proof though I don't think

Followed all threads so far. No evidence or anything resembling evidence posted.

Same - Vandy alum currently on the street and trying to get to the bottom of this. All of our group chats have been going crazy for the past few days. Looks like everything is coming from Intern in IB - Gen who might have personal beef with him

lots of people just having an excuse to show their true colors imo. he deserves the personal hate if its true but gotta feel bad for any brown dudes now

Previous thread was a movie, kid took down his linkedin now too

OP has been pretty open at Vanderbilt that they are the one who posted it. Also, allegations of the kid revoking others' offers had been circulating on Vanderbilt fizz and finance communities weeks before it ever made WSO.

allegedly some kid was emailing bank HR depts w/ screenshots of racist messages to get other ppl rescinded

I did a google search and the first result was a link to the taken-down WSO thread.  However there are a couple lines of preview text in the Google result, which says something about a kid trying to get his classmates' offers revoked.

Which made me think, maybe ChatGPT can dig up more.  Here's what it pulled after I shared the link:

“We’ve had a couple people who have offers from GS, Jefferies had their offers revoked or had meetings set up with HR.

Seems like people are actively trying to report their peers for reneging / double accepting offers.

Not sure how widespread this is, but hearing multiple cases at our school.

Pretty messed up that people are going out of their way to get others in trouble instead of just focusing on their own recruiting.”

Needless to say, that could be a hallucination, and it doesn't even contain the preview text.  But it's also consistent with the story.  One way or another, sounds like some Vandy kid(s) tried to stab their classmates in the back.  Most classless move out of that school since everything Diego Pavia did daily.

Ignore title, VP/Principal so a little tenured

Is this level of gossip/sharp elbows/"finance group chats" (lol) normal in recruiting nowadays? When I was in school like not that long ago, ppl generally understood that if you have a 3.7+ and some internships you'll get a BB/EB or Bain/BX/Bridgewater. Honestly don't think I know anyone who ever was sharp elbowed during recruiting...I went to a T2 target - Dartmouth/Columbia/Penn - maybe that was why? I did know Cal and NYU were like this.

This whole thing is crazy.

These roles have been popularized and glorified through social media + excess spillovers from rough job market in tech/med/engineering fields has led to this current terrible state
