What to do if you screw up on an email going out to 2000+ People?

Say you accidentally put the wrong date in the subject or post the wrong file-link at the bottom. Not a major mistake but something that is noticeable and reflects poorly on you.

Do you recall it and spend a solid half hour deleting the thousands of message recall success/failure you subsequently get or do you send out a second email saying you screwed up and disregard the first? Or do you ignore it and hope people let it slide?

If it's something people can easily figure out (ex. you put 7/3/2010 when you meant to put 7/3/2011) then just let it slide. If it's something that actually needs correcting (wrong file link, or an actual wrong date--putting Monday when you meant Tuesday, then you need to correct it.)

Honestly no one will really think much of it if you just send out a short correction email. The worst thing you can do is let it slide and have 2000+ people showing up to a meeting on the wrong date or something

I used to be super scared to send out mass emails for exactly this reason, especially if they were goin to people who were directly my superiors. Eventually though you get used to it and realise that most of these people are getting hundreds of emails a day, so whatever you're sending probably won't stand out anyway.

That said, reread everything, check your figures, and always correct your mistakes.
