What to say in scheduled networking conversations

Hi I've scheduled a bunch of calls this week to network for the 2020 SA season. In the past I've exclusively networked with alumni, however being a nontarget there are very few alumni in NY and I'm saving them for after I network with others so I have a better idea of what I'm talking about. I sent everyone an email saying I'm interested in IB and want to hear their experience at their specific firm, but I didn't mention internships. What do I talk about and if I end the conversation asking about the recruitment cycle and asking them to forward me to someone else I can talk to in the firm is that rude or expected? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
