What’s the best time to take the GMAT given the new GMAT format coming out?

Current senior here going into MBB for FT and am interested in both on-cycle + eventually doing business school. Given that the new GMAT format (GMAT focus) is coming out start of 2024, what’s the best time to take it if we plan on possibly applying for deferred programs? - How long do we think that the old GMAT format will still be around given that it said it’ll be phased out by early 2024? Would it still be around by like March 2024? - Would it be best to knock out the GMAT exam sometime winter (late December/early January) + then prep for on-cycle during second half of senior year?

A lot of speculation as well as vagueness has been going around on when the current GMAT will expire. After reading what a few experts had predicted (those from TTP), we can possibly expect it to last throughout this year's application cycle (so Spring perhaps?).

so that means the current GMAT will likely still be available for people to take up until ~April/May or so? And then from there on it'll be the GMAT Focus? Do you have a link to this article?
