When to discuss grad school with boss

Hey Guys-

Currently 23 working as a Senior Financial Analyst at a BB in their CFO group. Have been in this role 6 months, but also have 3.5 years experience in small business credit underwriting (worked full time through undergrad).

I have come to the realization that trying to break into IB from an executive or part time MBA might be an uphill climb, so recently I have given the idea of doing a full time MBA more thought. Right now, I am thinking of starting grad school in Fall of 2019. At that point I would be 25, have 3 years of corporate finance experience and 3.5 years small business credit experience. My undergrad GPA was a 3.5 from a non-target state school, but with a strong GMAT (680+) I think my resume should be able to get me into some solid full time programs.

While I think this is a good game plan, it is obviously kind of far out. At what point should I communicate this idea to my current boss? We have a great relationship and get along well, but if I bring this up too early, could this turn around and bite me?
