Where are laid off people now

Those who were laid off in the past few months, such as Goldman Sachs, Citi, or Barclays… where are you now? Did you end up finding another role? What’s the job market like and what’s been your plan?

Laid off from a top BB (coverage) in January as a (just completed first yr) second year Asso. Still looking. Corp dev roles moves slowly (and reluctantly), tech recruiters keep making useless introductions to companies that just wants to "keep information on file" and IB is dead quiet except a few very selective opportunities but yet wants all the M&A experience in the world. Apologies if I sound frustrated but I am - nothings been working and am losing quite a bit of steam, motivation and hope.

Have you found quality recruiters for your coverage industry?

my cold application / blind submission rate is definitely below 10% for quality companies - it’s above that % for companies nobody wants to work at (culture / comp / location)

Laid off in January and have an offer at a LMM shop. Will probably accept and push the start date out as far as possible so I can continue to interview in hopes of a better opportunity presenting itself.

What strategy did you use to get interviews? I’m finding recruiters simply don’t care or follow up and LinkedIn doesn’t post these roles as much. Are you cold emailing?

How are you landing these PE interviews? I too was laid off months ago and the only interviews I’ve had are with IBs that say I’m great but they can’t move forward because of hiring freezes. Recruiters have not helped on the PE front - genuinely curious how to best position myself for PE interviews even if at smaller funds with a lay off on my resume

Had interviews with 8 different firms. Split 5 / 3 between recruiters and LinkedIn / GoBuyside apps. All no name ~$100m shops. There were maybe 3 solid recruiting firms who actually helped and the rest were dog shit. Look up the well known and trusted firms for PE and either cold reach out or get an intro from anyone you know in PE. Every PE ASO who’s made the jump will know which firms. DO NOT USE PINPOINT / WATER ST
