I have not even figured out my place tbh. Waiting until march/april because not tryna risk it if banks go retarded and go virtual because of omicron

I’m a NYC native and I’m living on the UWS this summer.

It’s not a touristy neighborhood at all, not sure what that other guy is on about. Very residential, family-oriented feel. Subway/bus service makes getting around convenient. Supermarkets and bodegas on, like, every other block.

The con is that it’s not a hot, night-lifey neighborhood. Personally, that doesn’t really bother me, since I’m working in a pretty sweaty group and I’m not expecting to be able to go out more than two or three times this summer. If a youthful social vibe isn’t that important to you, I think the UWS can be a great neighborhood for SAs.

What time is best to start figuring out where to live? Is April too late?

It was dusty, dirty, low quality and Hell's Kitchen and midtown just has nothing to do. My airbnb roommate was also weird and he technically lied about some key details in the apartment, despite being a "superhost." It was just a generally bad time. Get something closer to NYU or a roommate, I'd do it differently if I could do it over again.

As someone that lives in Hell's Kitchen (HK), I must say you had a bad experience due to getting a bad apartment. The area is one of the safest places in the city, with the exception of the parts of Hells that borders Time Square and Chelsea. Those parts aren't too safe at night.

In terms of nothing to do, there are restaurants and pubs everywhere. It's catered to gays but you can def find some single women in these bars, and they'll be very happy to talk with you. Hell's Kitchen is super close to every part of the city. Almost every single train imaginable runs through HK. If you don't like the area, in 10-12 minutes you can be in East Village observing blondes chugging whiteclaws at 3am scream YASS.

Booked an AirBnB in East Village. Working in midtown. 6 min walk to subway. 10 mins on train. Then 5 mins to office
