where should i apply for 2014 SA?
I'm a sophomore at a non-target top 25 school. I spent last summer at a middle market PE firm. I received and accepted a return offer for this summer.
I'm currently working twice a week at a small investment bank near my college. And prior to doing financial internships I worked at a commercial real estate firm.
My GPA is 3.4, I'm an economics major .
Do i have a chance at SA for BBs? or should i focus more on elite boutiques due to GPA/non target status?
I am curious and am asking now because I want to start networking soon and if BBs are out of the question I don't want to waste my time
no goal is unachievable; aim for the top.
what do u mean non-target top 25? i'm sure you have OCR at your school
Yeah we do have OCR but it's not great
Get your GPA up this semester, network your ass off, and you should be in decent shape for recruiting season. Even if you're going to a non-target school, if it's a top 25, you should be able to find alumni on the street.
By the way, elite boutiques aren't any easier to get into than BBs. Firms like Centerview, Greenhill, Moelis, Rothschild, Evercore, etc. are all extremely difficult to get into, some arguably more so than BBs.
network everywhere - smaller firms depend on referrals just as much perhaps even more due to the fact they have less spots and are less likely to take a chance with candidates.
This year a lot of MMs closed their recruiting process to those who hadn't networked with them...
