Where to find return on Whitehall Street Funds

Hey guys,

For those of you in RE, what is the best way to find out about deals going on? I'm researching on Goldman's Whitehall Street Funds and I'm trying to get information on their deals, and searching for Whitehall on Bloomberg.com has been pretty helpful. I'm trying to find more stuff outside of Bloomberg, especially annual returns and acquisition criteria. I was able to find some of the acquisiton criteria on the Archon group site http://www.archon.com/Acq-Frameset.asp?DocName=Co… but I was wondering if there's someplace else I should be looking.

I usually get my RE information from RE Alert. I know their 2005 fund invested heavily in hotels, and I know that Goldman wants to start Whitehall Street Global Real Estate Limited Partnership 2007 (gathered from RE Alert). It invests worldwide and in any property-type, as well as high-yield debt. My question is, I'm pretty sure the 2005 fund had pretty much the same criteria but it invested heavily in hotels. Does anybody know which types of properties the 2007 fund will focus heavily on?

And this may make me seem like a total idiot, but does anybody know the return of the 2005 fund? I seriously cannot find it.

Thanks. I promise I am not using the oasis community to do my homework or any legwork I should be doing myself. I have the opportunity to speak to someone from GS REPIA group and I know their hotel deals, but I would sound like a real idiot if I didn't know what their return was for their 2005 fund or the prospects of their new 2007.

Whitehall, like all other RE PE funds is a limited partnership, and as such the financial details such as returns and prices of off-market acquisitions are highly confidential are available only to the limited partners (i.e. institional investors such as pension funds) in the fund. Acting like this information is publicly available will make you sound like an idiot at best, and someone who lacks proper judgement and discretion at worst.
