Which back office function pays the most?
Pretty self-explanatory, pile in Compliance/Ops/Finance/tech I don't really know the starting analyst salaries in all these areas and how their senior positions pay.
At the entry level, I would guess technology. I interviewed at GS for an internship (didn't get it for some reason) for a tech SA and many of the people at the superday were studying CS at places like Columbia, Princeton, CMU, etc.
