Which university for a finance career?

II am considering to apply for Bocconi's spring session as an European target, and I can basically enter almost all German Unis such as LMU Munchen, TUM, Uni Mannheim etc. as I have my Abitur. My goal is to break into finance after my Bachelors. Would you recommend me to grind hard for the Bocconi Test and try my best for it, or would a Bachelors from a German Uni be sufficient for a kick-start into finance (such as an IB Analyst role)? I appreciate your insight.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Bocconi stands out as a strong choice for breaking into finance, particularly for roles like IB Analyst. Its reputation, network, and on-campus recruitment (OCR) are significant advantages, especially for European and London-based finance roles. Bocconi's finance programs are highly regarded, and its alumni network is well-established in top-tier finance firms.

On the other hand, German universities like LMU Munich, TUM, and Uni Mannheim are excellent institutions, but they may not offer the same level of direct access to international finance opportunities as Bocconi. While these schools are strong academically, their OCR and networks in high finance (especially outside Germany) may not match Bocconi's.

If your ultimate goal is to maximize your chances of breaking into finance, particularly in competitive markets like London, grinding hard for the Bocconi test and securing admission would likely be worth the effort. However, if you prefer to stay in Germany or focus on local opportunities, a degree from a top German university could still provide a solid foundation.
