Why don't other careers have hardo culture
Other fields like medicine, law, engineering are more complicated than finance. Why does it seem like the stereotypical hardo is unique to finance.

Career Resources
They exist in medicine. We call them gunners.
100% Gunners are the annoying pricks firing off questions all the time. You want to be a sniper. Silent but impactful
Because those careers are either extremely difficult to get through the classes in school (engineering, medicine) or take forever to actually hit the career (law, medicine again)
IB is kind of unique in that it is middle-school level math, barriers to entry have reduced (still tough, but you don't need to go to an Ivy) and you make huge money at age 23.
Only engineering is really comparable given the school requirements of the others, and getting good at SWE takes a lot of time / engineering is an introvert career, so those guys are not as fratty and thus hardo about it. There are definitely "hardos" in engineering but it's just a different type. Think super nerdy kid who's been aiming at FAANG since high school and only talks about coding, tech, etc - pretty common SWE "hardo".
so different hardos but manifest themselves in different ways
Yep absolutely
Even law and medical school have hardos, come to think of it

Hardos definitely exist in the blue collar realm. The trades have dudes who build their entire identities around being a welder, electrician, etc. They love bragging about how many hours they work and constantly compare themselves to others.
LOL thats actually rlly interesting. Wonder if there's beggar hardos - brag to other beggars how many people they begged to, how much dosh they made, how many hours they begged (instead of some who just sleep beside the till)
Tech hardos also totally exist. Go into any comp sci department at any university and you’ll find plenty of discord mods who haven’t seen the sun in years bragging about their Amazon offer and 160k TC or whatever it is. There are losers in every career path.
All fields have their hardos, but financed is perceived to have less societal value than medicine, law, and engineering, so people view finance hardos as more greedy and less virtuous, thus in the poorest light. That's there's the stereotype, deserved or not.
Can confirm hardos are everywhere. Back in band class the biggest hardos were always the kids bringing multiple mouthpieces or even multiple instruments with them. Sure Braydon, you need your "special" Cornet for this Blues piece and not a bog standard Bb straight, of course you do, you little poser.
Lmao I think there’s a difference between someone with true passion and a poser whose self worth is built around external validation. Not sure what’s wrong with a perfectionist surgeon who is obsessed w his job (I hope mine is)
Medicine hardos definitely do exist. Tend to be way more arrogant than a finance hardo.
I think some of it depends on where you are, in Alabama sometimes I tell people what I do and they think I am a bank teller and making like no money. Oh well, least I know they don't like me for my money.
how do i get a girl to analyze and chill?
