Why isn’t corporate banking a feeder into Private Credit?

I work in CB so I’m pretty ignorant about this, but why doesn’t CB open doors to PC? I’m underwriting corporate credits, defending the deal in front of committee, and forecasting the revenue of the loan. Is it because the names are investment grade? Would like my end goal to be PC, but wondering if it’s possible without an IB background. Thanks all

Because the modelling isn’t particularly granular and the risk profile of the loans your providing is very different from the loans given from private credit funds. Currently work in private credit and we don’t have anyone from a corp banking background, most people here come from LevFin or FI research (but no one covering IG only HY).
