Will a financial mathematics major be looked down upon if my goal is to land a front office investment banking position?
I'd be at a non-target regardless of my major. I personally think it's my best bet at a super high GPA since I enjoy heavy duty math and modeling more so than financial theory. I'm confident in my networking skills. I also have money saved for grad school due to the high chance of me not getting where I want to be straight out of my undergrad.
It doesn't matter if you major in finance or financial math. If you think you can get higher GPA majoring in financial math then definitely do the latter.
That's relieving to hear. Thank you!
Regardless of how much you enjoy heavy duty math/modeling, it is extremely unlikely that you would get a higher GPA in financial mathematics than just finance.
