Will A internship at a top Real estate PE firm hurt my chances of getting a FT IB offer out of undergrad
Hi- I'm A junior who goes to a non-target. I networked my way to get an internship at a top real estate PE megafund. The only catch is that they don't have an analyst program. Will interning at this PE firm hurt my chances of getting a RE IB FT offer? I will be interning there this summer. Thank you.
Tell us more about how you networked this opportunity? Seems like a golden opportunity that many only dream of, surely a privilege
During my freshman year internship, I worked directly with the firm's co-chairman, and he brought me along to most of his meetings. After every meeting, I would ask the client for his or her card, and then after I got back to the office, I would send a follow-up email asking them if they would have lunch with me, and it had a 100% conversion rate. After the summer was over, I never asked one of the contacts for an internship. I took the advise that they gave me and managed to get an internship on my own my sophomore year at a fortune 500 general contractor to learn about real estate's construction side to have a holistic approach to business. Over this past summer, some of the contacts asked for my plans for this upcoming summer, and then after hearing my plans, the few of them that ran PE shops extended offers. And one of them happens to be a megafund.
