Will I get dinged?
Had a HireVue today for a top BB firm in a back office division for NY. Answered 5 questions pretty well but the 6th and final question was division specific. It was something along the lines of what divisions of the bank generate revenue? I said IB and S&T but stupidly added other divisions that aren't revenue generators (No idea why I did that). Will I get dinged because I included some divisions that aren't true revenue generators for the bank and is my shot at my dream Firm over?
You were probably already dinged when you said S&T generates revenue...
From my understanding S&T generates revenue through a small percentage on the trades they make for their clients.
Does your school have on campus recruiting for this firm?
That's true - but think about what banks do... the original purpose of them is to lend money.
S&T is still a front office (revenue generating) role...
Yeah banks make money off interest income...but also through transaction fees, and S&T.

Okay so investment banking doesn't generate revenue then? Pretty sure the guy was joking/taking a dig at S&T, It OBVIOUSLY generates revenue.
