Work from Home Deadline | Any office notice?

this topic comes up all the time. all I can tell you is, our NYC offices are closed for the time being, we don't expect them to open until after the summer or in the fall.

You’ll hear more in spring since things are so fluid at the moment.

I’m optimistic about a phased return starting late July / august with mandatory return after Labor Day (around when everyone is supposed to be vaccinated).  
 

That said, I’m just a random Summer Associate on the internet so what do I know.

I'm in a similar situation where my firm is basically having us on standby on a week by week basis. Its an absolute shit show, no one knows what's going on, not even the CEO cares to give us like a notice like some places that are giving a minimum 30 day notice prior to having people back. This would at least allow people to plan and not be in limbo with their living situation.

At a large BB, we have been told by our leadership that we will be given advance notice to be back to the office as they're cognizant of Juniors who have moved out of the city / need to come back.

Don't think it'll be any earlier than summer. 

Move to parents house, airbnb or get a 6 month lease somewhere outside NYC with option to extend.

Would be very surprised if your training was in person given logistics of flying lots of people in, NYC capacity limits, etc. My BB has no plans to return but you'll be given a lot of notice and probably option to WFH if you want to skip another 2-3 months of NYC rent in the beginning.
