Working in FiDi
Have read through some old threads about FiDi but wondering if anything has changed. How are the day-to-day things like getting a cab home late at night, grabbing a few beers, and Seamless etc?

Cab - rarely any problems.
Beers - Pretty much only Stone Street (Ulysses, etc.)
Seamless - okay selection, everything closes early though
On weekends and nights past 7 PM, FIDI is dead.
Pretty much accurate, although I think you are selling short the multitude of dive bars in the area (if you are into that kind of thing). Also, seamless is pretty atrocious on the weekends.
Also, if you're at DB or GS you won't ever have an issue getting a cab. You can call ahead and there will be one waiting for you outside (usually there is a line of them set up outside after 8ish anyways).
Seamless-selection sucks cab- easy to get
Tons of tourist during the summer.
I have Lenny's way to much
A good question, probably worthy of its own thread haha.
I'm a vegetarian my options are limited.
I usually order from
Stamina Grill Terri (Vegan/Mock Meat) Buddha Bodai (Vegan/Mock Meat, real good friends who eat meat like it) Crisp Sabor (Mexican food) Saffron (Indian Food)
Haven't tried any Italian places, you got any recommendations?
it's decent on all counts, as previous posters have said. i'm also guessing that within the next few years it's gonna undergo a bit of a change for the better in terms of nightlife. there are tons of new "luxury" buildings being developed or remodeled or something around the Gold St and/or Water St areas that are technically large studios, but are being methodically converted into 3 and 4 bedrooms by recent college grads. the draw being that most of these buildings seem to have a lot of great amenities included, namely free gym access. it's definitely possible that these people will keep commuting to the east village and LES for nightlife, but it seems like a good opportunity for a couple of bars to start sprouting up soon,
that being said, i know jack shit about real estate, so all these predictions could be off-base or totally wrong.
I agree, a lot of new luxurious apartments are being built around Gold, Water and even Fulton.
Push these plans back 6 mo - 1 yr. After the power outage, a lot of buildings w/o power had to let their tenants out of their contracts, and there's still lots of damage.
Haru sushi... they're great
get real friendly with stone street - both for beers and food. seamless is alright but get out of there on the weekends, it's dead. wall street gets filled with non-english speaking tourists and gets real annoying to walk across
