Would having banking teller/representative look good on resume?

Hey, I'm 17 and graduated high school a few months ago. Before I go to college, I've been trying to find internships at my local banks. I have had many phone interviews and the basic consensus, is that they won't hire me until college. However, a local bank chain/franchise has offered me a job. Just basic level telling/customer service. I was wondering if this would even matter on the resume, for when I want to apply for internships at IBs. Since I graduated early, I figured I would work for a year, get the money and experience, then go to college. Any thoughts?

bank teller is not relevant to IB whatsoever. Not saying don't do it, but it's basically the same as being a cashier for a part-time college job.

I'd say go find an unpaid local internship in something actually deal related. Best bet is cold emailing smaller boutiques, flagging your interest, and offering to work for free. IB, PE, search fund, corp dev, deal advisory, anything like that is better than a bank teller.

Just wait until college then.

Bro, you're 17. Just get good marks at school, play some sports and have sex.

I just started working towards IB in sophomore year of a semi-target college and was fine. Starting in HS doesn't really give you a leg up.

When I see a teller on someone's resume I honestly think of it as closer to a retail job than finance.  It's fine for a high school job, but it isnt getting you any closer to IB.  I think something in operations in whatever industry you are interested in or something entrepreneurial would be more helpful. Really anything intersting that you can talk about during an interview.  A bank teller is not interesting or relevant.

But again, not a big deal since it is still pre-college experience.

I understand completely. I also have alot of marketing experience and was a media administrator at a digital Agency. Pretty much made Ads and created campaigns to get people through the door. I had to handle a large variety of situations, so that ones always fun to talk about.

I’d say do it, but don’t work that many hours. Never miss school networking events/or club opportunities to go to work.

I made that mistake my freshmen year, and hated it. Everything worked out in the end, but still regret working a lot my first semester of college.

Yeah I don't think I'm even going to go to college here anyway since it's a total non target. Was thinking of going to Texas for school. I figure I'll just make some money for later and I can say I worked at a "bank"
