Wrong dates Resume
Had wrong dates of part time job on resume (2017-2020) when it was actually (2018-2021). Was a part time job and the length of time spent there does not change, but not sure whether to just ignore it, as I never entered this job in the application portal.
Someone posted recently about how their offer got rescinded because they did something similar, and theirs wasn't even a year, so I don't know, but you might wanna fix it and let them know sooner rather than later.
I saw that post too, thing is the actual length of time I worked there is still 3 years and I never even added this job in the candidacy portal when applying for the role in the first place, it’s just on my resume in the pdf. In two minds whether to flag it to HR or just hope it blows over
So you didn't include it in your resume or the portal? Then that should be fine. When they do background checks, they usually send out a form; that is where you are supposed to fill in ten years or so of employment, and you can make sure to put the right one there. It will be fine if it's not already wrong on your resume or in the portal applications when you applied. If it is, then it might be smarter to proactively reach out and send an updated email and let them know, especially if you are in the early steps, though not sure if it's a good look. I wouldn't care if it was me, but don't know about others
it’s on my submitted resume , but I didn’t bother adding it to portal. Not sure which one they use when cross checking background checks. Tbh I didn’t really care or notice it until the other guys post a few days ago, not sure if flagging it will just cause irrelevant problems for myself
Context is key here.
If it's a part-time job unrelated to your current role (e.g., server, car dealership) and you just listed it to show work experience, it's not a big deal. If it's directly relevant, the dates might matter—especially for something like 2020/2021, which could indicate what you did during COVID.
For an older, less relevant job, I wouldn’t mention it. If it's a more recent, relevant one, you could give them a heads-up next time you talk or just be ready to address it if it comes up. Either way, don’t treat it like a major issue—just frame it as a minor oversight. It’s been long enough that it’s unlikely anyone will care much.
