wrong latin honor

I know theres plently of threads regarding background checks. but my situation is a bit unique.

On my resume i put summa cum laude, when i actually received a cum laude.

I graduated a few months ago (Jan 2013), and have found a job at a boutique bank in new york. This bank does a normal bg check (criminal, education, etc.)

The reason i put summa cum laude is because i thought anyone who received an OVERALL 3.8+ GPA receives a summa cum laude.

However, i realized that it requires you to have at least 3.8 in EVERY class (not average) to receive a summa cum laude.

my overall GPA is 3.91, but received a B+ (3.5) in one of my classes, which is why i ended up with a cum laude.

Is this something I should tell HR immediately?

Thanks in advance !

DeterminedI highly doubt they'll notice/care.

Thanks.

I was just not sure if this is a big red flag, since finance is very concerned with honesty/fraud type issues.

dont they inform you if you are summa or just cum laude before graduation? not sure how you by accident put summa in there if they informed you that you were "cum laude"...and isnt a B+ a 3.33? don't think it's a huge deal as long as your GPA was accurate, but be careful and make sure the summa is removed when you start applying for jobs again.

Summa > Magna

There is also a Magna Cum Laude in there also... Either way, agree with Patrick that firms aren't going to care and it actually varies from school to school. Some universities use percentages, some use grade point averages, and the average for the cutoff at one school may not be the same as the cutoff at another school. If someone sees a 3.91 GPA though, they aren't going to think much of it
