Yet another school question...
Hello all, my name is Marvin and I am from Massachusetts. I am pursuing a career in banking and am seeking some insight regarding school, particularly undergraduate. I am torn between two schools (for various reasons), neither are "target" schools, per se, but I didn't know that I would be stepping into this field at the time of application.
Long story short, I am trying to decide between Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT and the University of Connecticut. I am leaning toward Fairfield because of the smaller, close knit environment and of course the location (NYC), but I keep reading about what a great business program UConn has to offer. Can any fellow monkeys give some insight on which they think would be a better school for the field? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Save yourself a helluva shit-ride through university by attending a TARGET school. You'll thank me later.
UConn acceptance rate- 44.7%, Fairfield acceptance rate- 71.2%
Go UConn. More selective school/ bigger school with more resources and connections.
Also, I know you're tempted by Fairfield's 58.8% female population vs UConn's 49%, but you must look at absolutes. 2280 females vs 8588 females.
You do realize that many state schools' acceptance rates appear lower because A) they are cheaper, which leads to B) everyone and their mother applies to them. UConn is by no means more selective, since the statistics do not indicate the qualifications of the applicants, just the number of applicants.
Regardless though, I suggest OP go to UConn.

Im sorry but what isn't remotely close? Are you inferring that UConn has a better name?
Unfortunately its too late now (for various reasons), I guess the best course of action would be to attend one of these schools and hopefully transfer to a target.
Hahaha, 8,500+ does sound a lot better!! Very good point on the acceptance rate, I didn't even think about that.
I think the best course of action would be to transfer later down the road. Has anybody done this and/or could share some insight? I feel like it will be tremendously harder to transfer, especially to places such as NYU Stern etc. I could be wrong, however.
Also I should add - Suffolk was my 3rd choice as well, but I think the best approach would be through UConn or FU, please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhow, I really appreciate the insight, thank you.
Just received word I was accepted into the University of Miami. I do not think this would be an ideal school for the banking field though...any objections?
