Club sport for resume
I go to a DIII school where 10 sports are varsity, and all of these sports are pretty typical (baseball, basketball, football, ect). I'm a member of the rowing club, where we practice ~20 hours/week. How useful do you think this is on my resume?
Also - in this club sport, we're broken down into "Varsity" and "Junior Varsity" rowers. How do I put it on my resume?
"Varsity Rower - Intramural Rowing Club" sounds interesting in the "interests" section
I'd also like to know the answer to this (also a DIII Rower)
It might be worth noting in interests too if you won any awards in it vs participation alone. Any sort of championship or placement under your belt?
I'm DI so take this as you will, but I put it under my Education header on an Athletics sub-bullet
He should definitely not put "intramural" anywhere in the description. There's a very big difference between club sports and intramural sports.

I'm an undergraduate junior applying to SA positions. I do not play for my school now bc I was injured during my senior year of high school and am no longer able to play competitively - What do you think?

Anyway I think that should be last resort - because in a sense you're saying that I haven't done anything to prove my leadership and time management skills in college.
I would put it on and state that you were Captain and all-conference or whatever...I've included stuff like that on my resume and had success applying to SA and FT positions at BBs. It may even help develop camaraderie with those that are interviewing you if they also were big athletes in high school. Playing sports at big D1 schools is not very easy and banks realize that.
I would strongly advise against including high school accolades whether they be athletic or academic on your resume. Everyone was a star athlete in high school and any awards are essentially meaningless. I played a D-1 sport in college and it always serves as a great example of leadership, teamwork and time management but I just don't see how HS sports are relevant to the conversation. You would be better served by focusing on collegiate activities that cast in you in a positive light and make you seem well-rounded. Good luck.
P.S. Whether it is true or not I would also advise against the cliched commentary that "I would have played at a top D-1 school but I was injured during my senior year of HS." Guys are injured all the time; torn ACL, torn meniscus, fractured vertabrae, excessive concussions, etc. and they always seem to recover. Not a personal attack just have heard that excuse and discounted it on countless occasions.
When you're a freshman or sophomore it's still acceptable but I would strongly recommend avoiding listing HS accomplishments if you're already a junior.
It's something you can bring up in an interview maybe, but shouldn't go on the resume. Everyone was a star in high school and it will make you seem like you haven't accomplished much in college.
I agree with junkbondswap. It seems a little late into college to include that as an example. If I were interviewing you and saw this on the resume, I would either be unimpressed by that hs feat, or I would ask you whether you still play sports, at which point you would tell me no, and I'd think you gave it up.

It is a bigger time commitment than my "Activities" and I want to draw more attention to it than the school finance club etc. At the same time, it doesn't quite belong under the same heading as my past summer/work experiences.

It's an activity. Get over yourself.
Generally I see participation in varsity sports highlighted in the education section. Something like (forgive the lack of formatting):
University of Somewhere B.S. Math and Science Honors: Won Some Impressive Scholarship, awarded to the Freshman with the highest GPA Athletics: Represented University of Somewhere as a member of the Varsity Sports Team
The value here will be in networking with Crew alums, not in putting it on your resume.
You're sweating this too much... You could be the biggest loser at Harvard and still get an IBD job.

The hoos don't have a varsity (aka NCAA) squash team. Your profile says you go to UVA. Did you transfer? If you're on a club team you should not claim to be a DI athlete. Please explain

I played intramural squash and thought about trying out but couldn't compete with the Indian kids though.
If you are a varsity athlete, have a great GPA and solid work experience it will definitely get you interviews. Also, from my experience, a lot of kids in my intern class and FT analysts have been varsity athletes in college for what that's worth.
Bottom line, being a varsity athlete in a huge commitment. Thus if you can successfully balance (read multi-task) a number of responsibilities, it definitely makes you an attractive candidate. (Also, great taking point for interviews, especially for team-work stories).
How should you put varsity athlete on your resume? Should it just be in the bottom in the activities section?
Yea add Varsity Squash (even if you were amazing don't brag about your lineup on the team though)
So just something like
Letterman, My Sport 20XX-20XX

Dont use athletics as an excuse for your GPA. It's OK to have an explanation, but don't use it as a crutch. These places will get athlete applicants with 4.0s from Ivy league schools.
Move the Aggie Investment Program and the Trading program up your resume and flesh them out. Minimize/ get rid of the bus driver and AV positions.
Take a look at the mergers and acquisitions resume format and the "how to write a resume with no experience" post. You don't have "no" experience but I think you'll find it helpful, I know I did.
Take your high school off.
