Consulting Start Date got Postponed. What should I do?

I graduated in December last year after haven taken an offer from a consulting firm. However I was informed that the firm was pushing the start date from August of this year to January of next year due to slower work flows.

I was wondering what I should do in this situation. Should I start looking for new jobs in the mean time? Off season recruiting is probably disadvantageous being out of school right?

My offer was for NYC; I went to school in the Midwest. Because of the situation, I'm trying to undo my newly rented NYC apartment and move back to California in the mean time to save money. How would I go about recruiting if I'm no longer near campus?

Thanks for any advice/tips

Surprising move and I would apply for a different position or an off-cycle program for 6 months. They might cancel your offer all together.

Assuming your status is correct, why the hell is an intern giving advice? As someone who has never worked in a professional setting before, how the hell would you know? There is nothing wrong with giving advice, unless it is about something you know nothing about.

dude. the real world sucks. i would love to have a year off to travel or teach english in some tropical paradise or something, as opposed to the 10 days of vacation i have now. alternatively, you could study for the cfa, read investing books, study a new language, etc.

You are a graduate, right? You won't have access to OCR anymore. Additionally, you are late (if not too late) for off-cycle internships. The only thing you can hope for is an internship/job through a connection. Worst case, travel, drink, meet with friends and enjoy life for a little bit before you are going to work for the next ~40 years.
