The good and the scary answer is you don’t - at least not immediately.

The more things you try and the more you live, you learn new things about yourself.

I personally grew up on math and physics, did engineering (top of class) in the US in a field which became impossible for non citizen to work in. And graduated in 2020 - having to do weird temporary stints.

Got interested in finance from a mandatory macroeconomics course that I did not want to sit in, and here I am doing masters in finance right now.

If you have asked me a few years ago I would have never predicted my interests to change and that I would find new things that I get excited about.

I get the pressure to be the best and the feeling you are missing out. But life is too short to worry about being perfect and long enough to learn from our experiences.

So, try new things, keep hitting until something sticks. It is never too late. The kfc guy started his business after 60 sth and a failed suicide attempt.

You are young, you have a long road ahead of you. Only you can navigate it. It is okay to make wrong decisions sometimes.
