Do I even have a chance at consulting?

I have a 3.5 GPA (higher in the majors, with an upward trend each semester if that matters), majoring in Politcal Science and Legal Studies, I'm about to start senior year. I think I have a strong resume/work experience with a summer at a large law firm and I have been currently working for a year during school/summer at an industry leading corporation (big name, I don't want to give too much away) I have decent leadership experience on my resume. I never took the SAT. I have really strong interviewing skills, I think.

MBB are doing an on-campus interviews/info sessions. Will I even get an interview if I apply?

Should I just go ahead and pursue something else? I'm really interested in consulting.

I know a girl who got in to deloitte w/ a 2.5 gpa from a non target. So I think you're good.

^ She is an extreme outlier. I would treat her case as an exception, but not the rule that "anybody can get in".

You sound like a strong enough candidate on paper though. Definitely apply and search this site ad nauseam for anything consulting related.

Think of it this way. If you apply, you have a non-zero probability of getting in, But if you're here worrying, feeling insecure about your chances and not doing anything, you have NO chance of getting the job.

3.5 GPA isn't high, but it's not terribly low. If MBB is recruiting where you're studying, I assume you at least go to a semi-target. Just attend their info sessions, network like crazy and prepare well for the case interviews. Study a bit of the GMAT Math if you have to take McK's PST. Good luck!

Go for it. It's about more than you can offer on paper. Get involved at the info sessions, network, reach out to alumni ... do whatever you have to. Practice, practice, practice your case interviewing skills. Knock it out of the park, be prepared to the point that if you ever do get an interview (you ought to be able to, if MBB is on your campus you're doing better than 99% of kids at various schools across the country) you convince them you're worth it without a doubt.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

Totally go for it. It sounds you have a very reasonable shot, especially since it sounds like your school is a "target" school. Be cognizant of this fact as well, you will be competing with your school peers.

Thanks for the replies. I'm under the asssumption my school is on the lower end of "semi-target" because McKinsey isn't coming but the others are. I just started considering this a few days ago so this is process is very unfamiliar. Is there an advantage to sending in my application before the info session? I've reading through the WSO forums, but if anyone has any advice to throw in that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Personally, I went through my school's recruitment process. Attended the career fair, dropped my resume off at the recruitment table, chatted with the recruiter, attended the information session, digitally uploaded my resume (required), and heard back for round one on-campus interviews.

What do you mean sending in application before information session? Like digitally uploading your resume and cover page? What is the drop-off date? I don't believe it matters as long as you are before the drop-off date. But this might be different at other schools.
