Internships+GPA help

To cut straight to the chase, I'm a sophmore who changed majors from Computer Science to Business Econ recently( should have done that the 1st semester of Frosh year!). As a result of this, my overall GPA is very low(probaly hovering around a 2.5-2.7), due to the lovely fact that Comp Sci PUMMELED my grade. However, my econ GPA is somewhat decent, like a 3.4-3.6. On top of that, my school isn't even a target school as I go to uc irvine.

I'm in the process of bringing up my overall GPA, but I'm looking at internships for my sophmore year summer (investment banking, hell I'll pretty much take any finance internship I can get). But it's pretty hard considering how much of a deterrent my overall GPA is. I'm wondering though if my GPA will get me rejected from ALL finance internships/if I do get rejected from all internships, what activities I should do this summer to help my resume look Junior year when I try and apply for some of the more prestigious boutiques/international banking companies.

Thanks!

I go to UCR and I got a sophomore ibd internship with a 3.3... I'd say networking is the only way. fyi put the major gpa: 3.6 on your resume

Did you opt for a small boutique or did you go all out and apply for the major investment banks like J.P Morgan, etc?

I got very lucky and made a good connection in the firm. It was a MM firm, but a regional industry group in SF so more of a boutique.

Just contact everyone you can. People say, for every 7 you apply to, you might just get 1 reply
