Interviewing with an Offer
Recently signed a return offer at a low-tier BB, but have a superday coming up with a better bank that I'd rather work for. Not here to debate the ethics on a renege and whether or not it's worth it, but wondering how to approach the conversation in an interview setting.
If the interviewer asks me if I'm working with a deadline, what should I say? Looking for some specific talk-track if possible. I don't want them to tell them I signed, but also don't want to give them a fake deadline.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Ah, the old juggling act between offers, eh? It's a tricky situation, but let's navigate it together.
If the interviewer asks if you're working with a deadline, you could say something like, "I am actively exploring opportunities and have been in discussions with other firms. However, I am very interested in this opportunity and would appreciate any expedited feedback you could provide."
This way, you're not explicitly stating that you have an offer, but you're also not giving a fake deadline. You're simply expressing your interest and subtly hinting that time is of the essence.
Remember, honesty is key in these situations. It's a small world and you never know when paths might cross again. Good luck!
