Lack of Feedback

Hey Guys,

So I wanted to vent about something, I've been getting a decent amount of interviews lately, a few of which the positions were something I really wanted but alas I didn't get the jobs. I currently am employed but am looking to transition to a more analyitical role at an AM or Wealth Management Firm. But I think the most frustrating thing about the rejections isn't the rejection themselves but the fact that I always ask for feedback and I NEVER RECIEVE IT.

I've interviewed with 6 firms and gotten 4 rejections so far in my search but for the life of me I just want to know why they rejected me so I can work on it in the future. Whether it be I'm not personable enough, I'm too formal, too informal, my hair looks funny, doesn't matter to me. I'm not pissed at them or anything, just looking to improve.

Is this just me or is it the norm with everyone? What percentage of the time do you guys as for feedback and actually get some back?

I feel the same way. Its real tough not knowing where you should improve upon. I've recently tried to ask for some feedback and have never had any type of response or acknowledgement besides the generic "we went with a candidate who better fits our description"

I must say though, I atleast respect when a firm lets me know I was rejected. Nothing worse then never hearing back from a firm after interviewing.

Feedback rate has been usually low for me. Sometimes they got back and most of the times they didn't.

"I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature."

It's more competitive today than it was in '08 when unemployment was below 6%.. It's not necessarily you losing as the bottom 50% of candidates but someone else winning as 1 out of 40 candidates.

I guess my one piece of advice here is that unless you're a Rhodes Scholar, you have to define yourself as filling a niche. You have to be one of the best candidates for a role and THEN you have to give them one or two call options that they don't already have.
