Low Cold Email Hit-Rate | Transitioning Veteran, Target Undergrad

I've been targeting BB, EB, and MF. Really looking to hack my way into an analyst role. My emails to vets do fairly well, but outside of that my hit rate is less than 5%. A lot of firms and groups have very limited if any vet presence, so I can struggle to connect at these places. I'm not totally unemployable because I have some offers from some LMM and MM through my existing network, but I have time, so I'll try my hand at the aforementioned.

Any advice? I've made a few templates that I usually personalize before sending.

Hey there! It sounds like you're putting in a lot of effort into your cold emails, which is great. However, if you're not seeing the response rate you'd like, it might be time to tweak your approach a bit. Here are a few tips that might help:

1) Be Concise: Keep your emails quick and simple. People are often busy and the quicker you get to the point, the better.

2) Show Enthusiasm: Give a compelling reason for the recipient to help out. This could be your accomplishments, your interest in the industry, or even a recent event at their company.

3) Personalize Your Emails: It helps a lot when the recipient doesn't feel like your email is spam. Don't just cut-and-paste; add some customization to the specific individual.

4) Be Polite: Recognize that the person is busy and offer some alternatives. For example, you could suggest talking over email, or ask them to refer you directly to the recruiter/HR.

5) Sell Yourself: Make sure you're succinctly selling yourself in your emails. Highlight your relevant experience and skills, and make it clear why you'd be a good fit for the role.

Remember, it's not just about the quantity of emails you send out, but the quality. A well-crafted, personalized email can often be more effective than dozens of generic ones. Good luck!
