New in the field

Hi everyone, I'm a rising junior in a top-30 university. I'm studying towards a major in Computer Science and Pure Math. This summer, I did an internship with a software company, and I found being a coder isn't what I want to do in the future. My friends suggested me to take a look at the finance field. He said I may have the opportunity to apply math and CS to the work in this field. Anyone has any ideas on that? I don't have any experience with finance. How can I get started? Is it too late? Thanks!

A lot of full time analysts are starting around this time. There is a simple process you must go through. First, find out when they are starting, show up early and find another analyst who looks like you (preferably someone who is not an American citizen). Bring cookies filled with tranquilizers and ensure that the analyst who resembles you eats as many as possible. Once they start to get dizzy, slowly lead them away as nonchalantly as possible. Once they've passed out, steal all of their information and pretend like you're them at the end of the day. During your first lunch break, dump them on a commercial fishing ship headed towards Africa. So long as they haven't yet been fingerprinted, you should be good to go. Blend in as much as possible for the first few days and make sure you don't forget your new name.

Math/CS is a great background for trading and the proprietary trading firms in Chicago would love you I'm sure. I would search your school's recruiting website in the upcoming months for potential trading internships and also do some research on company websites/Google to see if this is something you are interested in. You could also contact alumni in the industry. You really don't need to know "finance." They want people who are good with math and technology and they teach you all the finance you need to know.

Thanks! Is there any specific reason why you mentioned Chicago?
