Noob in the Finance scene, really need some pointers.

So I just started college in New York City, Baruch College to be exact as a freshman. I want to do finance but I'm not sure what type of Finance I want to do. I'm alright at math, but I'd prefer not to be doing complex math problems all day long alone. What I'd like to know from you guys is. What careers paths are the highest paying and worth looking into? Also, should I be looking for an internship as a College Freshman I have no experience so I'm also not sure what to put on my resume. If I want to look for an internship where should I go?

I know I'm asking for a whole lot, but I was told this site is really helpful for breaking in.

You should be looking for internship or at least doing something productive like research. But mostly you should get the idea of money as where you want to work out of your head. You're young and don't know much but you'll learn that working in Finance if you don't like it can be very difficult. Other than that Vault guides can be a good start for different fields as well as talking to career services

Well.....don't ENTIRELY disregard money. I can speak personally that knowing you're not getting paid nearly what your time would be worth elsewhere can be a pisser offer. Just don't go into something you hate because the pay is good.

Also you're very early as a freshman. My advice would be to start reading. WSO has some good book and movie recommendations.

Read up a bit first so you have an idea about the industry and THEN start talking to people. Begin with your faculty, get your career services to coach you on how to do a good informational interview, and then start doing real ones. I'd recommend doing real ones about January so read up and talk to your faculty now.
