Possible to delay grad for 1.5 years for SA 25? Seeking career advice.

Hi all. Interned at BB this summer. No return. Go to a T15 school with high gpa. Did not land a ft offer. FT and SA 24 wrapped up. I was planning to graduate may 2024, would it be acceptable to push back graduation to December 2025 (1.5 years) to re-recruit for SA25? #1) Could I say I’m adding a new major to extend graduation from May 24 to Dec 25? #2) if I did go ahead and land a SA 25 would it be possible to then graduate on time (May 24), and enroll in a MSF program so I’m getting another degree and would do the SA right after I graduate from a MSF (May 25), would they renege my offer If I did this? Any insight here would be helpful - I am driven to land EB/BB IB and eventually make it to UMM/ MF PE and exploring alternative routes.

You have great resume. Hiring market is not really good now - take the job. If you will still feel inclined to pivot to BB and etc. - I promise you, you will find a way.

Thanks for the reply. That wasn’t really my message. I don’t have a job offer as of now that’s why I would extend grad 1.5 years, apply to MSF, and apply to SA 26 now.

Ah yes - I see, my bad. For some reason, I misinterpreted a sentence. Regardless, I would say that it partially depends on your financial situation, as I am sure that master's degree in US costs a lot (unless you get the full ride or parents pay for that- then I would say go do it). Further, it also depends on your remaining experience - I am talking about other work experience rather than BB SA because its risky to assume that you will land a summer internship and return offer afterwards (speaking only from probability perspective), even if you already have BB SA under your belt. I would suggest try working in IB-related field and lateral afterwards because opportunity cost is too high in my opinion and I am sure you still can get a decent job offer.

I don't have an answer, but I'll just tell you that when you delay something and hope for it to happen you remain blind to other opportunities. What are your realistic alternatives if you graduate in 2024?

That’s exactly what I did (I was a transfer though so graduating later wasn’t much of a choice for me). I think it could work out, but like the others have said, you may miss other opportunities if you delay graduation.
