Resume Certifications? (undergrad)

I am an incoming sophomore at a non-target and I have no internship this summer. I was wondering if I should spend my free time doing any certifications to beef up my resume such as Bloomberg Market Concepts or WSP's basic package to get better at excel. However they are obviously very expensive (for me, at least) and I want to know if it is worth it to do them? Would they help me and/or look good on my resume as a sophomore? Does anyone know any other certifications that could potentially be worth doing?

Don't put any online certification on a resume, unless it has a rigorously proctored examination. Definitely do a modeling training, but do it to improve your skills, not to add a line on your CV.

As for certifications, I'd suggest you look for some of the https://www.cisi.org/cisiweb2/cisi-website/study-with-us</a">CISI exams.

Thank you for the advice. Which ones do you recommend I start with? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I've never heard of the CISI exams until now

Unless you are in the UK and couple of other countries and work in a brokerage/investment advisory etc., you probably haven't heard.

IMHO you may try their capital markets and corporate finance qualifications. Their corporate qualification is a co-branded one with ICAEW (the guys who award ACA).

Similar position here - if I have no hard skills (coding languages in particular), what’s the best way to utilize the “Skills” section of the resume? I thought that something like BMC/ CFA Investment Foundations would be a good filler until I familiarize myself with Bloomberg/CapIQ etc.

Just put the skills you've got from those online courses in the skills section and avoid including the courses itself. If you get asked in the interview, how did you get a skills, mention the courses in brief and highlight the coursework and real projects you've done to develop the skill - the real projects will matter more.
