SBs for helpful answers to job search questions

I didn't do well during my time as an undergraduate ( 3.0 and no related experience/activities), and I also didn't realize I wanted to work in finance until I was graduating. Specifically, I want a career in ER.

Right now my plan is to try my best to network for an internship starting in the fall/spring. If that doesn't happen, I will look for related jobs or a master's program.

I will take the CFA Level 1 exam in June, and I just registered for 2 summer classes at Baruch for the first session. One is Principles of Finance, and the other is Spreadsheet Applications in Business, which is described as:

This course focuses on spreadsheet modeling and its application as a decision support tool for business problem solving. Students will learn advanced modeling techniques of widely used spreadsheet software and apply them to solve common business problems. The course is oriented toward hands-on computer use and applied case problem solving.
My first question is regarding that second class - would I be better off completing Wall Street Prep's certification instead? WSP would be cheaper by about $700 and might teach me more, but the actual class would give me a grade and provide a reference from the instructor. The class options are pretty limited for me because I can't register for the higher level accounting/finance classes, so I would probably take something like stats.

My other question is regarding off cycle internships. Should I wait until I have the results from the CFA exam and classes to reach out? What is the timeline for fall internships like - is there a certain period for recruiting or is it more like rolling admissions?

Finally, I also plan on reading some "recommended reads", volunteering, and opening a paper investing account. I'm thinking about paying for a mentor session, but it might be too early for that. I appreciate any suggestions regarding what else I can do.
