Start date background check question. HELP!

Situation:
I may receive an offer for a full-time analyst position at a BB soon (had final round, got good feedback, etc). I started work at a startup in May, right after graduation, but it was casual and part-time, and I only worked for about a month and a half before having to take time off for prior commitments that summer (this was all prearranged before starting). I was one of the very first employees. I started back up in August/September full-time, filing my W-2, etc, then.

On my resume, I said that I started in May. Since it is a startup company, there have been a lot of management changes since. I mentioned this offhand in an interview, and I will explain my situation to HR in more detail should I get an offer, but will this raise red flags in the background check, particularly if they contact someone at the company who thinks I started in August/September? I know it's only a few months difference, but still...

Should I give them the contact information of someone I worked with in May/June who no longer works at the company, or my supervisor who currently works there but would say I started in September?

Will HR at the BB just tell me to put my start date as September on my background check forms and be done with it? Or will they be absolutely certain I stick with the date on the resume I submitted? By the way, all of my prior internship experience will (or should) check out perfectly.

Sorry, I know this is a bit complicated, but it has been causing me some anxiety lately. Any help would be appreciated!

Seems like everyone is having background check anxiety these days, myself included. I'm wondering does anyone know anyone who got turned down due to minor problem such as start/end dates or small GPA rounding?

I'm just worried I would accept an offer, quit my current job, the new company would run a check and question this minor thing, and I could get screwed without a job.

Granted, it's a fairly remote possibility, but if everything were to go perfectly wrong...

...or will the background check happen while I'm still working at this startup, and so they won't even contact my current employer but rather just my other companies?

I'm not lying about anything. I did actually start doing work for the company in late May/early June. It is just an unusual situation because of the part-time work, timing, startup, management changes, etc.

Can I give the number of a previous manager I worked with? Or do these firms require someone who is currently working there?

Other than that, the only person I know who POSSIBLY could be able to verify everything is the company's angel investors/board, but I don't even have their contact information, and I'm not sure if they even know I did work for them in June.
