Summer Analyst Interview: Offer or Waitlist?

I had an initial phone screening in early January and an in person interview in early February. Two days later I received a call from HR saying they received positive feedback regarding my interview, but it will be a few more weeks before the next step. One week after my interview, I received another call from someone else in HR. I've looked on LinkedIn and no one seems to have a profile indicating they're incoming for this position and the position is still open for applications on the website. Does it seem like I've been put on the waitlist? Or are they just waiting until they complete all their interviews to give out offers?

If it was a superday in February, they inform top candidates within a day or two of the interview with an offer. BB's are usually better about this, boutiques can be more scatter-brained. The smaller the firm, the less formal the process.

Seems like you've been wait-listed to me, but I know certain banks (RJ I think) like to assess all of their candidates as a whole before making a decision on final round invite/offer. This isn't as common because candidates are easy to forget, so they try and allocate a few slots from each final round day to the incoming class.

Weird thing is it wasn't a superday. It was just a final round, and very laid back, on campus interview at a target school. I thought there would be an additional round after the on campus interview, but HR said they was no superday. Not to sound too confident, but it seems strange that I would get wait listed after it went well and I seemed to get positive feedback after only meeting with two people. It's a regional position so could it be a possibility that they're deciding who goes to which offices?
