Taking a short-term job with intentions of quitting after finding something better?
In a bit of a pickle and not sure what to do
Have a few offers in roles/companies that are a little off my track but I can't afford to sit on the bench for a lot longer.
Curious if anyone has ever been in this situation before/done this and what do you recommend?
Ideally don't plan to be in this filler gig longer than 3-6 mo's.
Thoughts and advice are INCREDIBLY APPRECIATED!
Hey Venturepapi, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot...do any of these help:
Hope that helps.
Anyone?
Was in a similar position, I ended up sitting it out until what I wanted really came along. It's a tough scenario though, do you leave that experience out of your resume, etc?
What was your time line on the job hunt? Curious to know the time frame in total and when you got the burner job offer to your current gig?
Would definitely take it off the resume if it was quick.
For my experience, it was ~5-6 months. I think for you though, you'll need to decide how much this temporary position will take you off track- you don't always have to go from A -> B to end up at C.
I'm in this situation right now. Since I'll be in NYC, I'm going to keep networking and keeping an eye opening for any opening that I'm aimed for.
